About architect visual story teller illustrator scholar

“My illustrations are poetic, fairy-tale-like narratives that connect the ancient wisdom of Anatolia with contemporary humanity.”

It should be possible to re-establish a life of high consciousness and virtue on this planet , and this should flourish from Anatolia, as it has throughout history and Anatolian women should be pioneers of this.

Filiz Köse graduated from the Department of Architecture at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1989 and completed her Master’s and PhD studies at the same faculty.

Since 1992, she has held various positions at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Between 2003 and 2006, she served as Cultural and Promotion Attaché at the Turkish Embassy in Moscow, and between 2009 -2013 at the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm.

She is currently lecturing at the Departments of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at TED and Başkent Universities.

She began her painting career at a young age with national and international awards and continued her painting studies by drawing  illustrations, took illustration courses  from Ayşe İnan.

In her illustrations, she talks with fairy tales, naive and esoteric stories about Anatolia, Anatolian woman, and diversity of animals and plants that are diminishing or dissappearing  today.

In her works, she likes to highlight the themes of women, children, craftsmanship, art, nature, and Anatolia’s endemic plants and animals. She tries to reflect the intention that these special and fragile groups that exist in Anatolia should be the winner in every moment of their life and transform these ancient lands.  She continues to produce illustration series narrating Anatolian fairy tales under the theme of “Enchanting Anatolia.”
