There are two types of mountain gazelles in Türkiye. One of them is the Hatay Mountain Gazelle, also known as Gazella gazella. This species is found along the border between the districts of Kırıkhan and Kumlu in Hatay. It is said that the word “Hatay” means the final boundary line of the Moon. Gazella gazella is also an animal affected by moonlight, with increased nocturnal activity.
